BMW M3 Paint Correction

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I must admit to having a soft spot for BMW’s M Cars, in particular the E46 M3 Coupe so I was delighted when Tim contacted us about doing some work on his.

When we inspected the car we were impressed with how clean the car was, Tim has spent some time claying it and working on the wheels and tailpipes already but was struggling to get the hard BMW paint anywhere near the level of perfection he wanted. This is where we could help.

The following Saturday Tim dropped the M3 off at the detailing bay, for an idea of what we were to contend with here is a before shot:

MG ZT Paintwork Correction

Monday, February 16th, 2009

It was an early start on a rather cold and overcast Saturday morning. The car arrived shortly after 9am and had a few miles of surface dirt on – this was in keeping with the weather and road conditions at this time of year. We had a look over the car and set a rough completion time…

Detailing in the depths of Winter

Snow.

In February.

Who would have thought it!

It is a challenging task correcting paintwork in the middle of summer, let alone with four inches of snow on the ground.

When you (finally!) arrive at your destination and you can’t stand up straight for fear of slipping over to find a car inches deep in snow you know the detailing God’s aren’t looking down at you and smiling today! Once you have dusted off the top layer of white stuff and managed to get enough feeling back in your fingers to even attempt to start washing the car you know it is isn’t going to get much better any time soon.

After wrestling with polishes that need a work time of days, keeping the halogen worklights tucked in close to you and the panel you are working on and stopping only to brush your nose to prevent the icicles forming, the only glimmer of satisfaction you will get is from the look on the customers face when you transform the look of the car.

That to me is worth the effort and worth more than all the hot cups of coffee and warm bubble baths you can hallucinate over while working in -3 degree temperatures.

So spare a thought for us detailers – we are hardy but sensitive creatures!
