Car Care in the snow – Clean out those arches!

January 16th, 2010 by Paul

A short video showing the dirt and road grit/salt coming out of the arches after a week of snow fall. The attachment is an underbody lance that connects to a pressure washer (In this case a Karcher Professional unit, but they do sell other fittings) from Autobrite Direct (http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk).

Just shows how much dirt can get trapped in there as they were initially rinsed when the car was foamed.

Cleaning out the arches regularly helps to stop the build up of dirt which traps water and increases the risk of them rusting. All of our services include a thorough underbody and arch clean – perfect to prevent dirt build up after a harsh winter.

WAX TEST :: Ezyme vs Bos VS Megs16 vs 476

November 11th, 2009 by Paul

Hey folks and welcome to my wax test :D

Following my purchase of Chemical Guys top end wax E-zyme and hearing it offers superb durability I decided to put it to the test on Saturday and sit it alongside some of the big hitters for the long run.

The panel chosen was the bonnet of the GF’s VW lupo, partly as bar the roof its the largest single panel.

Let the testing begin!

There has been a distinct lack of write-ups recently for Midlands Detailing and we apologise for this but spare time has been hard to come by! We’re having a busier period than normal at this time of year and would like to thank all of our customers for that.

This car we thought deserved a write up.

Nissan Skyline GT

September 18th, 2009 by Martin

This Nissan Skyline GT came to us for one of our enhancement details. The owner had the car recently imported from Japan and was concerned about the amount of fallout on the car, in particular some iron filings.

Please excuse the lack of pics on this detail, we had a slight camera mis-function at the start of the day when the batteries forgot they were batteries for a short period and died on us!

Blackfire Products Review

August 3rd, 2009 by Martin

Here at Midlands Detailing we’re not fans of believing the hype that can often surround a product so we always try things out before using them on customers cars.

We’ve heard and seen good things lately about the blackfire range of products so have got our hands on the Blackfire Wet Ice Over Fire Shine Kit which contains a good helping of their products including a long life sealant, some carnuba wax and a spray sealant. To add to this we also have the Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish.

Audi A4 DTM Edition

July 8th, 2009 by Martin

The Audi A4 DTM is a limited edition model that celebrates Audi winning all three DTM titles. With a power increase to 220 bhp from its 2.0 TFSI engine it delivers on the power front, with the extra carbon fibre parts making it stick out from the crowd of fleet A4′s on the motorway.

This particular car had seen quite a bit of motorway travel and was showing signs of general wear and tear, nothing that we couldn’t address!
